As maths learning is cumulative, once students fall behind in maths, they can often lose confidence, self-esteem, motivation to learn and this can affect behaviour and attendance.
As students begin to rebuild the foundational building blocks of learning, they start to make sense of maths again. Research [Assessment for Learning in Maths (2025) Codina, Geraldene; Doak, Lauran] shows that when this happens, students become more motivated and engaged in learning across other subjects, and improvements in behaviour and attendance often follow.
For some students, progress is rapid, with concepts quickly falling into place. For others — particularly those with maths anxiety, special educational needs, or larger learning gaps — progress may be slower.
Our programme works with the specific needs of each student, allowing them to work at their own level and pace. The goal is to rebuild confidence, close learning gaps, and help every student reach their full potential and achieve the qualifications they need for the next steps in their careers.
