For a third of students, the pace of the maths curriculum is too fast, and they reach the end of primary school with gaps remaining in their understanding.
Without these strong foundations, it then becomes extremely challenging for them to make sense of the secondary maths learning, leading to them falling further behind, and losing confidence and self-esteem, and, in some, resulting in problems with attendance and behaviour.
By identifying these students early, we can close the gaps in their understanding and rebuild confidence, so they can move forward to GCSE success.
